Pardon me while I go insane...

Today at work I spent no less than FIFTEEN MINUTES looking for something on my desk, mining through stacks of papers and file folders, finally enlisting the help of my boss and a coworker. After looking around the office for a few minutes, my boss picks up something sitting SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF MY DESK and says, "isn't this it?" It was. I had picked up that VERY SAME THING no less than THREE TIMES, and set it aside thinking it was something else. Brain...turning...to...mush. Thank gods it's a three day weekend!

Quote for the Day: "Frankly, I don’t think they have a problem at all. With 80 or 90 percent of the male population chain-smoking filter-less cigarettes, the majority of the people living in or moving to the most polluted cities on Earth, nearly double the traffic fatalities of the United States despite having a tenth of the automobiles, and with a booming economy destined to bring still more traffic, more cigarettes, and more pollution, it’s a tragic bet that the bulk of them will be dead by sometime tomorrow afternoon."--The Mighty Jimbo, on China's overpopulation problem.

Tom from The Funny Farm tagged me in my comments a little over a month ago, challenging me to answer the Five Questions that seem to be making the rounds of the blogosphere, and now I'm *finally* getting answering them. (Sorry Tom, it's been a busy month.)

Question One: If you were stuck in the world of Fahrenheit 451, which book would you would you want to memorize and preserve?

A: "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes

Question Two: Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

A: Oh yeah, Dr. Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1. A sensitive, brainy, good-looking archaeologist who speaks 20-some languages...what could possibly be sexier?

Question Three: What is the last book you bought?

A: "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano

Question Four: What book(s) are you reading now?

A: "Yoga Mind, Buddha Body" by Cyndi Lee, Homer's "The Iliad", "Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes Ph.D. and "Fall of Atlantis" by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Question Five: What five books would you want to be among what was left of your belongings if you were stranded with nothing but them to read on a desert island?

A: 1. "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, bound into one book; I'm pretty sure they make this (and if they don't, they should).

2. "The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide" by Douglas Adams

3. "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes

4. "Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain

5. "The Odyssey" by Homer
